Word from the Ambassador
Greetings and welcome,
Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Nouakchott, Islamic Republic of Mauritania. It is a great honor for me to represent the State of Qatar in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, which is characterized by rich history and the host people and is also the country of many great things.
The embassy was opened in 1975, but diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania date back to 1974, when the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania was opened in Doha, Qatar.
Mauritania's Qatari relations have always evolved in such a growing and systematic manner as a result of the able efforts of the ambassadors' brothers who have been developing these relations. Thanks to all those efforts, Qatari-Mauritanian relations have been firmly established and steady in the way of evolving towards effective and mutual strategic partnerships during that period.

Academic Qualifications
Work Experience
- Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E Shaheen Al-Kaabi worked as Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Nouakchott from (20/05/2024) until now
- H.E. Shaheen Ali Al-kaabi was appointed Acting Director of Department of International Cooperation in accordance with Decision No. (20) of 2021, issued by His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
- Director of Department of International Cooperation during the period (13/06/2021 - 20/05/2024).
- Assistant Director of Department of International Cooperation during the period (29/06/2016 - 12/06/2021)
- Head of Division in Department of International Development during the period (01/01/2010 - 29/06/2016).
- Before Joining Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E worked as:
- Head of Studies and Projects Division in the Qatar Authority for Charitable Activities during the period (2007 – 2010)
- Head of Safety, Quality & Environment in Public Works Authority (Ashghal) from 2000 to 2007
- Project Manager in Ministry of Municipality and Planning Affairs from 1995 to 2000.
Membership
- A Member of the Board of Directors of the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).
- A Member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Fund for Development (QFD).
- A Member in the Qatar Permanent Committee on Rescue and Humanitarian Assistance.
