The State of Qatar has had bilateral relations with Mauritania since 1974. These relations are characterized by mutual respect and joint cooperation in political, economic, cultural and social fields.

• A visit by HH Shiekh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to Mauritania in 2011.
• A visit by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-misnad, to Mauritania in 2007.
• A visit by the Emir HH Shiekh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to Mauritania in 2016.

Signed Agreements

• Several agreements on cooperation in the legal, judicial and cultural fields; Islamic affairs and endowments 2012.
• An agreement regarding the regulation of recruitment of Mauritanian workers in Qatar 2012.
• An agreement on commercial exchange and economic and technical cooperation 2003.
• An agreement on establishing a joint supreme committee signed in 2000.
• An agreement on cooperation in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development signed in 2012.
• A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of mining 2012.
• A memorandum of understanding for cooperation and coordination between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in both countires signed in 2002.
• An agreement on air transportation between two countries signed in 2008.
• A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in tourism 2012.
• A memorandum of understanding regarding cooperation in agriculture and veterinary medicine signed in 2012
• The first executive program for the media agreement between the governments of the two countries from 2011-2013. It was signed in 2012.
